VDM Arrest: Friend Alleges Foul Play at EFCC Office
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that friends and associates of popular Nigerian social media personality and activist, Martins Vincent Otse—widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM)—have raised concerns over the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) refusal to allow them to provide him with food.
VDM’s lawyer, human rights activist Deji Adeyanju, earlier confirmed that the influencer was arrested by EFCC operatives on Friday, though the exact reason for his detention remains unclear. The arrest has sparked widespread reactions online, with some alleging the involvement of a commercial bank and describing the situation as a targeted crackdown.
In a video posted online, VDM’s associate and musician Koko Pee expressed frustration after attempting to deliver food to the influencer at the EFCC headquarters. According to him, officials denied the request, insisting the agency would handle his feeding.
“We are here at the EFCC headquarters, trying to take food and go and see VDM. The body that took the beating needs to eat,” Koko Pee said in an emotional video clip.
Shortly after, he shared another update: “There is a standing order for no one to see him or give him food until Monday,” he claimed while returning from the premises.
As of the time of filing this report, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale was unreachable for comment, and multiple calls to the agency’s official lines went unanswered.
