Afrobeat Star Opens Up About Mental Health Struggles, Others

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that Nigerian Afrobeat star Lil Kesh has candidly shared his ongoing mental health journey, revealing personal struggles with anxiety and what he believes to be undiagnosed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

In a recent interview, the artist reflected on how these challenges have shaped both his personal life and music career. While he has not received a formal medical diagnosis, Lil Kesh stated that his experiences strongly align with ADHD symptoms he’s dealt with since childhood.

“I don’t like to identify as ADHD, but I have ADHD. I diagnosed myself, but trust me, I know,” he said.

He went on to explain that many people may exhibit ADHD-like tendencies, but it becomes problematic when it interferes with daily functioning. “Everybody has a particular level of ADHD to them. But it’s bad when it is a disorder. I’ve had my fair share of that disorder right from when I was a kid,” he noted.

Speaking on anxiety, Lil Kesh linked his episodes to the uncertainties and pressures that come with fame and personal life transitions.

“I feel like not knowing, lack of clarity… that’s one thing that can give me anxiety,” he explained. “Once I know what it is that I’m dealing with, or what type of emotion I’m actually feeling, or what my problem really is — that is half solved.”
