Ekiti Bans Graduation Ceremonies For Schools
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the Ekiti State Government has banned graduation ceremonies for pupils in kindergarten, nursery, primary and secondary schools across the state.
In a statement shared via its official X handle on X, it announced that the ban is effective from the 2025/2026 academic session and applies to every public and private school in the state.
It also urged schools to focus on improving the quality of education and to stop organising elaborate parties.
It further noted that the ban aims to ease the burden of planning and preparing for such ceremonies on parents.
The Ekiti State Government also announced a book review policy for schools in the state. The new book review policy prohibits primary schools from changing textbooks as they wish.
According to the new book review policy, primary schools can only change textbooks once every six years, while secondary schools can only change textbooks once in four years.
It added that the new book policy aims to promote sustainability in education through a revised textbook review cycle.
Schools that fail to comply with the new directives may face sanctions directed by the state ministry of education.
Etiki has joined the growing list of schools that have banned graduation ceremonies in schools. Other states that have banned graduation parties in schools include Imo, Edo, Ogun, Ondo, and Abia states.
