Forbes Releases Richest Women in Nigeria 2023 List: Meet the Top 10 and their Amazing Wealth 

The race to join the ranks of the Richest women in Nigeria has always been steady just as it exists in the male category.

In fact, one of the richest women in Nigeria is wealthier than Tony Elumelu.

There are many successful women in Nigeria and many of them rank on the list of richest women in Africa too. They have accumulated wealth over the years through various means including business, investment, trading, luxury services and politics.

Except for number one on the list who ranks on the billion dollars list, their net worth is in millions of dollars and one could tell with their array of choice property, jewellery, cars, clothing and accessories.

Forbes has released the new list for 2023 and here are the top 10 on the list.

Folorunsho Alakija – $1 Billion

Folorunsho Alakija is an oil mogul whose wealth is acquired through her company, Famfa Oil. Her wealth has earned her #2 position on Forbes as the richest woman in Africa, and even richer than Tony Elumelu. She tops the list of richest women in Nigeria. Aside owning an oil company, the 69-year-old also has business interests in printing and fashion industry.

Folorunsho bought four identical Mercedes-Benz G Wagon for her four sons, and she also owns a customized Mercedes-Benz S-Class worth 20 million Naira.

Hajia Bola Shagaya – $950 Million

#2 on the list of richest women in Nigeria is Hajia Bola, a former auditor for the Central Bank of Nigeria before she started her own business. Her business focuses on the importation of photographic equipment. It is reported that she introduced the Konica photographic equipment in Nigeria. She also has other businesses like real estate and some of the most luxurious rides like

Daisy Danjuma – $900 Million

#3 on the list of richest women in Nigeria is Daisy Dajuma, a lawyer and former Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District. She is the wife of former defence minister General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma. In 2019, she was appointed the chairperson of May & Baker Nigeria PLC, a leading Pharmaceutical manufacturing company. 

Fifi Ejindu – $850 Million

#4 on the list of richest women in Nigeria is Fifi Ejindu. She is an architect, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She is one of the leading female architects in the country and the founder of Starcrest Group of Companies. Her company has three divisions: real estate, building and designing, and investment opportunities.

The Abuja-based architect drives a Rolls-Royce Ghost worth 130 million Naira she bought herself on her birthday.

Dr. Stella Okoli – $800 Million

Stella Chinyelu Okoli is #5 among the top richest women in Nigeria. She is the founder and CEO of Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries LTD. Dr Stella started her company as a small pharmacy retail store; today, Emzor has over 50 products. 

Bimbo Alase – $750 Million

#6 among richest women in Nigeria is Bimbo Alase.

She made much of her wealth through the furniture business she started in Lagos. The company’s name is Leatherworld Furniture, and it has grown to become one of the most luxurious stores in Lagos.

#7 on the list of richest women in Nigeria is the media guru, Mo Abudu. In 2017, she was ranked one of the most powerful women in global television. She owns EbonyLife Television, an entertainment television station where she has created and produced entertaining content. Her film production company is EbonyLife Films.

Mo owns a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, an Escalade ESV SUV, a Lexus LX570 and a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. 

Stella Oduah – $600 Million

#8 on the list of richest women in Nigeria is Stella Oduah, a politician and Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District.

She was a former Minister of Aviation. As a politician, there have been controversies about misappropriation of government funds linked to her name.

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala – $550 Million

#9 on the list of richest women in Nigeria is Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.

She is an economist, international development expert, and former Minister of Finance. She has been recognised several times by Forbes as one of the 50 greatest leaders in the world.

  • Director-General, World Trade Organisation
  • Former Minister of Finance in Nigeria
  • Worked in Tech companies like Twitter
  • Center of Global Development
  • African Risk Capacity

Diezani Alison Madueke – $500 Million

#10 on the list of richest women in Nigeria is Diezani Alison Madueke. She is the first female OPEC president. She has served previously as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Minister of Transportation, and Minister of Mines and Steel Development.

Like Stella Oduah, there have been cases of corruption linked to Diezani Alison Madueke while she was in office. Some laundered money through her office was used to purchase a yacht, cars, jewellery and property. 

There are many other wealthy women who qualify to rank on the list of richest women in Nigeria but these are the top 10 According to the latest Forbes global list.
