Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF), the apex body of Yoruba socio-cultural organisations, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for signing the South West Development Commission Bill into law.
The Forum described the move as a crucial step towards accelerating development in the region.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Senator Anthony Adefuye, Secretary General of the Forum, praised the President and the National Assembly for their commitment to regional development.
He noted that the new legislation would help address socio-economic challenges and enhance infrastructural growth in the South West.
“The signing of this bill into law has strengthened public confidence in the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering balanced regional development across the country,” the statement read. “It also underscores efforts to tackle the unique social, environmental, and developmental challenges confronting the South West.”

The commission is expected to serve as a strategic vehicle for implementing key projects that will complement state governments’ initiatives in the region.
The Yoruba Unity Forum further urged President Tinubu to appoint competent and experienced individuals to lead the commission, ensuring its effectiveness in driving sustainable development.
