Tony Elumelu Celebrates Women, Highlights Contributions to Success

By THECONSCIENCEng

In the spirit of International Women’s Day and the celebration of women throughout the month of March, Mr. Tony Elumelu, an African billionaire banker and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, has dedicated this month to honouring and celebrating the women who have played a significant role in his life and business.

From his mother to his wife, sisters, HH Group female CEOs, directors, and colleagues, Mr. Elumelu recognises the immense impact these women have had on his journey.

The billionaire magnate revealed this on Monday in a statement titled Celebrating Heirs Holdings Women: Honouring Achievements, Championing Inclusion and Leadership.

It was disclosed that throughout his life, Mr. Elumelu has been influenced by women who have inspired and guided him while he also credited his mother, an entrepreneur, for instilling in him the values of hard work and determination, which have been instrumental in his success.

As a father of five girls, he also feels a deep sense of responsibility to shape their futures and to show them the possibilities that can be achieved through hard work, resilience, and discipline.

At Heirs Holdings, Mr. Elumelu is continually inspired by the female who have shattered glass ceilings within the organization. With 40% of CEOs and 36% representation at the executive management level being women, Heirs Holdings is setting an example of gender inclusion and leadership.

Similarly, at UBA Group, where Mr. Elumelu serves as Chairman, 50% of board members are women, and eight remarkable female CEOs are steering the ship of Africa’s most formidable financial institution.

The message across the entire Heirs Holdings Group is clear: the leadership table is open to anyone willing to work hard, regardless of gender. This commitment to inclusivity is further demonstrated through the Tony Elumelu Foundation, the organization’s philanthropic arm.

Since its inception, the foundation has disbursed USD40 million to support female entrepreneurs across 54 African countries. Over 650,000 women have received technical support from the foundation, resulting in the creation of over 150,000 jobs on the continent and positively impacting their communities.

For Mr. Elumelu and the entire Heirs Holdings Group, gender inclusion is not just a goal, but an integral part of their DNA. They firmly believe in creating a future where every individual, regardless of gender, can achieve their full potential and contribute to a more equitable and prosperous world.

As the world celebrates women in the month of March, Mr. Tony Elumelu and Heirs Holdings griup join in honoring their achievements, championing their inclusion, and supporting their leadership, adding that together, we can create a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and make a difference.
