Your Actions Aimed at Raising Tensions, Woke Blasts Ada-George over Anti-Wike Comments
Emeka Woke, a former Chief of Staff to Chief Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, has vehemently defended the Minister against what he described as a misguided and biased attack from Chief Rufus Ada-George, a former Governor of Old Rivers.
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the reaction, contained in a statement on Monday, comes following Ada-George’s letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which Woke said was laden with unfounded accusations aimed at the FCT Minister.
Woke stated that that Ada-George’s criticisms reflect a deeper agenda to sow discord between Wike and the current governor, Sim Fubara. He argued that such actions are not the hallmark of a true elder statesman but rather a self-serving strategy that seeks to exploit the existing political tensions for personal gain.
“Chief Ada-George cannot claim the moral high ground while his own legacy is marred by past conflicts that have left Rivers State in chaos,” Woke stated.
He pointed out that Ada-George’s involvement in the historical tensions between prominent political figures in the state disqualifies him from being an impartial mediator in the current political climate.
Woke emphasized the need for true leadership that prioritizes unity and integrity over partisan interests. He criticized Ada-George for what he sees as a blatant display of bias, particularly in light of his lack of support for Dr. Peter Odili’s governorship aspirations.
“The people of Rivers State deserve better than this ongoing spectacle of discord,” Woke remarked, urging political leaders to reflect on their roles in fostering genuine dialogue and reconciliation rather than perpetuating division.
He concluded by reiterating that the current political landscape requires selfless elders who are willing to set aside personal biases and work towards the greater good, urging the former governor to abandon his divisive tactics in favour of a more constructive approach.
