Tinubu's Global Acceptance Swells As Turkish President, Others Shower Accolades On Him

Tinubu’s Global Acceptance Swells As Turkish President, Others Shower Accolades On Him

By our reporter

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s President-Elect has continued to gain international acceptance, as his popularity swells ahead his inauguration on May 29.

This is contrary to views expressed by the Labour Party, LP, Presidential Candidate, Peter Gregory Obi and his ‘Obidients Movement’, that the 2023 Presidential Election was rigged by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to favour an unloved Tinubu.

Obi and his LP had approached the international community with litany of unsubstantiated claims and falsehood to smear the image of the President Elect, and curry some sympathy for himself.

Interestingly, Obi’s move seems to be failing as Tinubu has emerged the ‘Beautiful Bride’ celebrated globally.

Joining the rank of global leaders who have saluted Tinubu after his emergence, Turkish President, Tayyip Erdoğan, on Wednesday, hailed Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu, for winning the 2023 presidential election.

Erdogan’s goodwill message is coming on the heel of similar ones from President Xi Jinping of China, United Kingdom Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak; his counterpart in Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and France President, Emmanuel Macron, among global leaders.

In his congratulatory letter, Erdoğan who described Tinubu as a brother, called for mutual cooperation and partnership that would depeen the friendly tie between Turkey and Nigeria.

The Turkey president also underscored the importance of Nigeria as the “strongest nation in the African continent” while wishing the president-elect a successful tenure of office that will usher in progress for the people of Nigeria.

He wrote, “On behalf of the Turkish Nation and my own, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency on the occasion of your election as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the elections held on February 25, 2023.

“I believe that as our strategic partner, Nigeria, under your leadership, will continue its course to a prosperous future. Türkiye attaches great importance to improving its relations with Nigeria, as the strongest nation in the African continent.

“With this understanding, I have no doubt that with our joint efforts, we will develop friendly relations and the growing close cooperation between our countries to the mutual benefit of our people.

“I avail myself of this opportunity to express my heartfelt wishes for the health and happiness of Your Excellency, as well as, the well-being and prosperity of the friendly people of Nigeria.”
