Tinubu Hosts Chess Champion Tunde Onakoya In Lagos

During the visit, Onakoya presented his recently earned Guinness World Record certificate for the longest chess marathon—a feat that has drawn international acclaim.
President Tinubu praised Onakoya for his inspiring work using chess to uplift and empower children in underserved communities. Describing the achievement as a testament to the “resilience and brilliance of Nigeria’s youth,” the President expressed a keen interest in expanding Onakoya’s initiative nationwide.
In a statement shared via his official X handle, Tinubu said:
“Tunde’s journey—from the streets of Lagos to transforming lives and breaking world records—reflects the strength and spirit of Nigerian youth. Through chess, he opens minds and creates opportunities in communities too often overlooked.
