The Voice Nigeria 4: Praiz Picks Seven Vocalists for Battles Stage

Coach Praiz at the weekend selected seven top vocalists from his team who will proceed to the Battles stage on the voice Nigeria singing competition.

It was a tough battle of vocals and charged emotions as the episode eight of the music talents show witnessed raw display of vocals by the competing talents who gave exhilarating musical performances with high octane energy while trying to outdo one another for a spot in the coach’s top seven list.

The show’s innovative format features four stages of competition, including the Blind Auditions, Knockouts, Battles and Live Shows, for an opportunity to grab the grand prizes.

The global tv reality show in its season 4 in Nigeria and currently in the Knockouts stage is sponsored by First Bank as part of its arts, entertainment and youth development interventions.

While the energetic performances lasted, Praiz chose John, Roselyn, Deekor, Benjamin and Aderemi as the outstanding performers before saving Temitope and Chioma from the danger zone to complete the list that will feature at the Battles stage.

The coach had prior to the performances trained the twelve talents separately and guided them on how best to deliver their chosen songs.

Meanwhile, he lost Nicole and Timi to Naeto C and Waje respectively while sending both to the dangers zone to afford him some time to compare their performances with others.

HOW THEY EMERGED

Nicole had opened the episode on a disappointing note with a performance that was below expectations. Her nerves got the best of her as she struggled to perform Miley Cyrus’ The Climb forcing the coach to send her to the danger zone before Naeto C swiftly ‘stole’ her.

Five superlative back to back performances
got the show sizzling with excitement again with the performers clinching a slot each on the list.

It was John who first revved up the atmosphere with his breathtaking rendition of
Asa’s Ojumo Timo followed by Roselyn’s highly emotional delivery of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing with a
powerhouse voice before Deekor sealed the tempo with a romantic slice of
Enrique Iglesias’s Hero.

Then came Benjamin with a soulful and serenading rendition of Daniel Caesar’s Best Part before a heavily built Aderemi gave his all to sing Rihanna’s California King Bed.

Timi gave a breathtaking performance of
Aretha franklin’s Respect filled with growls which got coach Praiz commendation but his decision to keep her in the danger zone turned out wrong as Waje ‘stole’ her.

Chioma was in her church elements when she delivered an electrifying performance of
Mercy Chinwo’s Excess Love while Temitope gave a melodious version of
Wande Coal’s Again but both ended at the danger zone before being saved.

Euphoric, Tolani and Peter dropped out of the show as the Knockout stage continues.
