A humanitarian and female advocacy NGO, Care for Women and Girl Child International (CWGC), was on Sunday launched in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. CWGC is a non-governmental organisation whose mission is to deliver transformative support and empowerment through essential resources and tailored interventions for women and girl children. A major highlight of the launch, held at the Idi-Ape area of Ibadan, was the donation of food items and medical supplements to 1,500 beneficiaries, mainly grassroots residents of Ibadan North East Local Government Area of the state. Speaking to newsmen shortly after the launch, the Founder of Care for Women and Girl Child International (CWGC), Alhaja Sekinat Tolanikawo Adelakun-Akande (ASTAA), stated that the organisation is committed to protecting, empowering, and uplifting women and girls. She added that the core objective of the organisation is driven by a simple but powerful belief, that when women and girls are safe, educated, and supported, families thrive and communities grow stronger. “We focus on advocacy, education, capacity building, and social support—addressing issues such as gender-based violence, access to education, health awareness, and economic empowerment. Through partnerships, community engagement, and evidence-based programmes, we work to give women and girls a voice and the opportunity to reach their full potential. “Today’s engagement is part of our continued commitment to raising awareness and mobilising collective action,” she said. Explaining the rationale behind the choice of location for the launch, she noted that although the organisation has an international scope, she chose to begin from her immediate community before expanding to the rest of Ibadan, Oyo State, and eventually the entire country and beyond. “As an experienced project manager, I describe this as my minimum viable product. I am starting in my ward, Ibadan North East Local Government, Ward 11, at my mother’s house here, then at my father’s family in Ward 12 of Lagelu Local Government. From here, we can progress to other areas to cover Ibadan and beyond,” she added. Speaking on the possibility of political ambition, she said that while she has no immediate intention to run for political office, the support and goodwill she receives from people, especially due to her continued grassroots contributions, could someday inspire her to serve in that capacity and contest in the 2027 elections. The organisation also called on government agencies, the private sector, civil society organisations, and the mass media to partner with CWGC in building a society where every woman and every girl is valued, protected, and empowered.

Senator Magnus Abe

Senator Magnus Abe An Anti APC Element, Lawyer Petitions Party Chairman

Senator Magnus Abe has been described as an illegitimate member and beneficiary of the rulling All Progressive Congress APC, whose recent appointments in the party should never have happened.

A lawyer and member of the party in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Chizy Enyi made these assertions in a petition written to the party’s leadership on Thursday.

The Rivers state chapter of the APC has been embroiled in internal crises which have seen the party lost its hold to the Peoples Democratic Party in the state but recently appears to be making significant gains on resolving the issues and returning to winning ways in the state .

In the petition sighted by THECONSCIENCEng addressed to the APC National Chairman, Caretaker Committee/Extraordinary Convention planning Committee, and titled “SEN. MAGNUS ABE IS NOT LEGALLY AN APC MEMBER AND SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN PARTY POSITIONS” Enyi raised several posers on why Senator Magnus Abe deserves to be stripped of his party appointments.

Youth Minister, Dare Congratulates Peller at 45

The petition reads:

Your Excellency Sir, it pains my heart when those who do not see anything good about APC gets party positions because they are close to those at the corridors of power in Abuja.

I was perturbed to read on newspapers that Senator Abe has been given appointments on two committees by the Chairman of Contact and Strategy committee of the party. I was then tempted to ask why and of what essence? Despite the fact that he is not a party member, yet he is getting party positions.

It is obvious, that Senator Magnus Abe is not a registered member of APC having bluntly refused to revalidate his membership as ordered by the party and I wonder the rationale in given him appointments in the party that is exclusively meant for party members. I CHALLENGE SENATOR MAGNUS ABE TO MAKE PUBLIC HIS CURRENT MEMBERSHIP CARD.

Your Excellency Sir, you are aware that the All Progressive Congress under your Chairmanship, took a decision to revalidate all old members and register new members. A decision that even President Buhari obeyed and revalidated his membership. But Sen. Abe singlehandedly opposed the the exercise and vehemently refused to revalidate his membership till date. Sen Abe went further to address few of his supporters and told them not to revalidate because registration as a member of any political party does not expire and his supporters obeyed his directive against the decision of the party. The worst of it all, is that Sen. Abe told few of his supporters, that the party under your Chairmanship can not discipline them for refusing to revalidate their membership.

Senator Magnus Abe

Senator Magnus Abe tried using Rivers State Judiciary to stop the revalidation and registration exercise which was why Rivers State Chapter of APC didn’t start revalidation and registration exercise the same time with others. He collaborated with Igo Aguma, Emma Deeyah, Golden Ben Chioma and few others who went to court stopping the revalidation and registration exercise in Rivers State, until the Court of Appeal gave an order that cleared Rivers State APC to participate in the exercise. The rest is history.

Your Excellency Sir, I am aware, that you can not claim to be ignorant of the travails of Rivers State APC since 2018 that was caused by Sen. Abe which led to the entire APC in Rivers State not to present any candidate during the 2019 general election. Sen. Abe and his few supporters have been litigating all decisions of the party thereby exposing us to danger.

It is disappointing, discouraging and disheartening to note, that while Sen. Abe and his few supporters are conspiring against APC in Rivers State, which has led to majority of them defecting to PDP, yet Sen. Abe is still getting party positions thereby validating his actions and discouraging those that meant well for the party in Rivers State.

Your Excellency Sir, it is pertinent to ask the following questions;

1. Is the party decisions Supreme against any individual?

2. If the answer to question 1 above is yes, does the party have right to discipline erring members?

3. Is the action of President Buhari a good one for obeying the party by revalidating his membership even as the President of Nigeria?

4. Are old members of the party like Sen. Abe, Elder Chidi Wihioka and others who bluntly refused to revalidate their membership still members of APC?

5. If the answer to question 4 above is YES, then what is the essence of the entire exercise and if it is NO, then why give such persons positions in the party when they are not members of the party.

It is obvious, that the party under your Chairmanship, extended severally, the revalidation and registration exercise for there not to be an excuse from any party member or intending members before closing the exercise. Despite all the extensions, Sen. Abe refused to revalidate his membership, instead he went further to address his few supporters not to revalidate their membership because membership of any political party including APC does not expire and the party under your Chairmanship can not do anything. It is obvious, that by given Sen. Abe positions in the party, validates his earlier statement that the party under your Chairmanship can not do anything. This is really strange indeed.

The intentional refusal of Sen Abe to revalidate his membership against the decision of the party and yet get party positions at the National level, portend danger and it is capable of further destroying the party. HENCE THIS PETITION.

I can not call on the leadership of the party to discipline Sen. Abe for disobeying the party since he is no longer a member of the party, but I am calling on the party leadership to REMOVE SENATOR MAGNUS ABE FROM ALL PARTY POSITIONS AND STOP FORTHWITH FROM RECOGNIZING HIM AS A PARTY MEMBER.

Your Excellency Sir, let me inform you, that what is still keeping Senator Magnus Abe romancing with APC members is because of his appointment as member of board of NNPC, else he would have defected to the PDP like his other supporters.

Remember, that “A Stitch in Time, Saves Nine”. Please act fast to save this party before others will follow the footsteps of Senator Magnus Abe, the petition concluded.
