LASUTH Pleads for Understanding over Power Supply, Pledges Speedy Resolution
The Management of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has appealed to its patients and other stakeholders for understanding and support over bad power supply in the hospital.
The foremost hospital however pledged a speedy resolution as state authorities are dealing squarely with the issue of ensuring a speedy return of power supply.
A statement released on Wednesday said, “In the last four weeks, the hospital has not had supply from its only power source, the Independent Power Project (IPP) and had been running on generators. Diesel prices as everyone knows, are currently very high.
“This very high cost of procuring diesel has necessitated the painful decision to ration power in the hospital. This is in addition to the fact that these generators need regular times to cool down in between running them.
“However, the hospital management is ensuring a 24/7 power supply to all the Emergency Units, Intensive Care Units (Adult and Neonatal ) as well as the Operating Theatre Suites.
“In the interim, the hospital Management is finalizing certain alternative power supply source arrangements.
“This situation has undeniably brought untold hardship to our staff, patients and clients.
“While the state authorities are dealing squarely with the issue of ensuring a speedy return of supply, we appeal for patience from our clients.”
LASUTH promised that normalcy will return as soon as it gets back on the normal power supply.
