Police To Sanction Officers Seen Receiving Money From Chinese Nationals
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the Nigeria Police Force has vowed to discipline officers seen in a viral video receiving cash from Chinese nationals.
The video, which has sparked widespread outrage on social media, shows uniformed, armed police officers lined up as they are handed naira notes by several Chinese individuals in what appears to be a pre-arranged transaction.
In response, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, described the conduct as both “unprofessional” and “unethical,” stressing that the behavior does not align with the values and standards upheld by the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Nigeria Police Force has taken cognisance of a disturbing video circulating online, showing police officers receiving money from a Chinese national,” Adejobi stated. “The Force strongly condemns the conduct of the officers, which is both unprofessional and unethical.”
He confirmed that the officers involved have been identified and are now facing disciplinary action. However, the specific nature of the sanctions was not disclosed.
Adejobi further reiterated the Force’s commitment to professionalism and maintaining public trust. He also issued a stern warning to individuals and organisations who employ police services, especially for escorts and guarding duties.
