Police Arrest Suspected Drug Dealers In Katsina, Recover Illicit Substance
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the Katsina State Police Command has apprehended two suspected drug dealers and recovered a significant quantity of tramadol tablets valued at ₦3.5 million.
The suspects have both confessed to the crime, and investigations are currently ongoing. This operation is part of the command’s broader efforts to combat substance abuse and the trafficking of illicit drugs in the state.
One of the suspects, identified as 27-year-old Murtala Salisu from Bare-bari village in Safana Local Government Area, was arrested on March 20, 2025, at approximately 4:00 PM. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives traced and apprehended him in possession of 2,084 sachets of suspected tramadol tablets.
During interrogation, Salisu confessed that he obtained the drugs from an individual identified as “Rabe” (not the real name) in Nasarawa State. He also named Tanimu Abubakar of Jibia LGA, Katsina State, as his accomplice.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer Abubakar Sadiq quoted the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, as reaffirming the command’s unwavering commitment to tackling drug-drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety and security of residents.
The Commissioner also called on the public to continue providing timely and actionable information to support the fight against crime across the state.
