The Oshodi Isolo council boss further disclosed that most of the houses on Marcarthy lane are built without recourse to physical planning law, whereby they failed to observe the 10 metres set back as mandated by law.

According to him “I am very bitter with the state of the market we visited today. I am going to be very blunt and I won’t take carelessness on the parts of our traders to consistently violate the environmental sanitation law.The situation here is not only appalling but condemnable in all ramifications.”

“Those houses built without observing the physical planning law will be sealed to serve as deterrent to others who will be developing properties in our local government.

There are laws guiding property development in our dear state, so, it must be adhered to at all times. We won’t tolerate contravention by anyone”, he said .

However while speaking with journalists after the inspection, the council helmsman promised that he will constantly visit markets to ensure all of them are properly kept.

He also admonished the traders to fully comply with the Lagos State Market Sanitation Law that designated every Thursday from 8-10am for environmental sanitation of the market surroundings.
