Messi and Ronaldo controversy has forced legendary footballer, Paul Scholes to declare his choice on who is the better football player.
The 45-year-old Manchester United legend who shared the pitch with both Messi and Ronaldo also played alongside Ronaldo during the superstar’s brilliant six years at the Old Trafford.
However, the former England international rates Barcelona captain Lionel Messi above Christiano Ronaldo and many other football greats like Eric Cantona, Zinedine Zidane, Andrea Pirlo and Xavi.
Scholes said Messi is better that many other great footballers of the era. “I think about the great players with whom I have shared a pitch: Eric Cantona, Zinedine Zidane, Pirlo, Xavi, Cristiano Ronaldo and the greatest of them all is Messi,” Scholes wrote.
Scholes, who is regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time, played four times against Messi in his brilliant career. He spent his entire professional playing career with Manchester United, for whom he scored over 150 goals in more than 700 appearances between 1993 and 2013.
