LASIEC Declares Readiness, As 15 Parties Jostle for LG Seats in Lagos
Barely 24 hours to the Lagos Local government election, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission LASIEC has expressed readiness towards ensuring free, fair and credible elections during the July 24th elections in Lagos State.
THECONSCIENCEng reports that the Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission LASIEC Hon Justice Ayotunde Phillips gave the assurance while briefing pressmen in Lagos on Friday at his Yaba office.
The LASIEC boss noted that while 15 political parties are fully registered to participate in the election, voting will start by 8 am and end by 3 pm and voters will vote with permanent voters card PVC.
She added that smart card readers will be used for voting across all 57 LG and LCDAs across the state and if the machine fails, the incidence sheet will be used by the ad hoc staff to capture the data and allow the voter to vote validly.
Phillips also assured Lagosians of adequate security of lives and property, urging Lagosians to come en-mass to exercise their franchise.
The Commission stated that the election results will be uploaded via a cloud platform and will be available on the LASIEC website.
She concluded that the elections will hold in strict compliance with covid-19 protocols as social distancing, use of nose masks, temperature readers etc will be deployed.
