In an unprecedented move, the Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya popularly called MC Oluomo has presented 5 exotic SUVs worth over #20million as gifts to outstanding employees of the union in appreciation of their support and loyalty.
The cars presentation was the highpoint of the commemoration of Oluomo’s 100 days at the helm of affairs of the union in Lagos State.
Akinsanya who extolled the virtues of the awarded members of staff while presenting them with the car keys expressed gratitude to them for believing in his vision and mission to move the union to an enviable height since his days as the treasurer of the union.
He further gave the assurance that with their continued loyalty and support, better days are ahead for the union and more incentives are on the way for all diligent and hardworking members and employees.
MC Oluomo said, “This is a celebration of you, the loyal employees and supporters of the NURTW leadership mandate, whose support and loyalty have helped us grow the union from my days as the state treasurer till now as state chairman. We could not have done much without you and your great efforts and sacrifice have not gone unnoticed.
In the same vein, the union boss charged organizational leaders to always show understanding, empathy and appreciation to employees instead of harassing, bullying or taking advantage of them.
He, nevertheless, urged NURTW members who are drivers to always be law-abiding, warning them to avoid driving on the restricted BRT Lane, on one way or under the influence of alcohol. He insisted that his administration will sanitize the union by setting up various task force units to ensure strict compliance.
At the colourful town hall meeting event which held at the NURTW state secretariat in Lagos, Oluomo also enumerated the achievements of his administration in the last 100 days, promising to do more.
The event which was well attended by had eminent personalities, including government functionaries, politicians, traditional rulers, the Nigeria Labour Congress and representatives of various organizations within the transportation value chain, in attendance.
The traditional ruler of Isolo in Lagos, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, the lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo 1 at the House of Representatives, Dr Bashiru Dawodu, NURTW National President Alhaji Baruwa, Lagos VIO boss, Engineer Toriola were among dignitaries at the event.
Engr. Toriola in his remarks congratulated the leadership of the union urging for more collaboration to assure smooth traffic management.
Hon. Bashiru Dawodu who also expressed satisfaction with the union’s administration particularly because of the peace which has characterised its conducts lately pledged to offer support anytime required.
