The appointment of Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo of Remoland as the substantive Chancellor of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) has continued to attract commendations and felicitations from eminent Nigerians and top-notch organisations.

The Group Managing Director of Adron Homes and Properties, Oba Adetola Emmanuelking, has joined others to congratulate the revered monarch over the development.

In a statement released releasee media in Lagos, the real estate guru said he was confident that Oba Babatunde Ajayi would deploy his wealth of experience in lifting the fortunes of the great citadel of learning, describing his emergence as another great milestone in the history of the university, as he is ‘the first traditional ruler to pilot the affairs of the 14-year-old institution.’

“As a renowned academic, there is no doubt that you will bring your expertise as a scholar and manager of people to bear in your new role as the Chancellor of the University. It is also instructive that you have become the first king to pilot the affairs of the 14-year-old institution.”

He assured that Adron Homes would continue to collaborate with the university in deepening the impact of the institution’s community service efforts in the state.

Oba Babatunde Ajayi was announced as the 14th substantive Chancellor of FUPRE, by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, during a news conference in Abuja.

Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the new Chancellor of FUPRE, is the Managing Partner of Babington Ashaye & Co. He has over 20 years’ experience in Insolvency and Restructuring and has handled not less than 250 Insolvency and Restructuring assignments to date.

Ajayi handled the liquidation of Nigeria Airways Ltd as the assistant liquidator and the privatisation of the three steel rolling mills in Nigeria as the liquidator through a guided liquidation option.

He was also involved in the privatisation of Skypower Aviation Handling Co. Limited (SAHCOL). His other notable clients include, the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Bureau of Public Enterprises.

Ajayi holds a Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences from the University of Ibadan. He also has a Bachelor’s degree Ln law (LL.B) and a Master’s degree (LL.M) in law from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.A Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN. He is also a member of ICAN Faculty on Insolvency and Corporate Re-Engineering and the Vice President of Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners of Nigeria, BRIPAN.

A distinguished Fellow of INSOL (Insolvency International), Ajayi has the honour of being the first qualified Fellow of INSOL International from Africa.

He is a member of the International Insolvency Institute (III), which is an invitation only membership of the most senior, experienced and respected practitioners, academics, judges and financial industry professionals in the world.

He is a two time president of the Collectives Club, Sagamu, the current Chairman Board of Trustees of Collectives Club, Sagamu. He is also a member of Ikoyi Club and Lagos Tennis Club, as well as a trustee of United African Methodist Church.
