Fatgbems Petroleum Explains Remedial Actions on Fuel Contamination
Fatgbems Petroleum has disclosed that following the unfortunate fuel contamination incident at its IBB Abeokuta station, all affected vehicles were immediately identified and remedial actions were taken to prevent any damage at no cost to the owners.
The energy company said this was done amongst other necessary and ongoing remedial efforts in line with its commitment to quality service and top level customers satisfaction.
In a statement on Tuesday, Fatgbems petroleum said, “As a responsible business, Fatgbems takes pride in its commitment to deliver quality products and service to all its customers across its region of operations.
“On Sunday, March 14, 2021, we experienced a technical issue at our IBB Abeokuta outlet due to intense flooding. This unexpected event led to contamination of our fuel.
“Immediately the issue was identified, our in-house technical team swung to action and shut down operations at the station to enable them take a deeper look at the issue with the sole aim of activating our established protocols for corrective action.
“Simultaneously, all affected vehicles were immediately identified and remedial actions were taken to prevent any damage at no cost to the owners.
“10 vehicles were identified, 9 of which were tune-up and refuelled at our other retail station in Abeokuta, except one (1) vehicle which was sent to an authorized workshop in Lagos. Also, we have intensified efforts to monitor the said vehicles for quality assurance.
“We are also in engagement with relevant regulatory authorities, the
Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to further strengthen all approved compliance measures to avoid a repeat of this unfortunate incident pending the reopening of the station.” the statement added.
