Speaking with BBC Pidgin, the Public Relations Officer of the commission, Wilson Uwajaren confirmed the arrest.

Uwajuren said Obiano has been on the watchlist of the EFCC prior to the transition on Thursday, March 17.

He said;

“Obiano has been on our watch list for some time now. He had immunity as a governor and that is why we could not arrest him before now.

“Today he lost the immunity and was travelling out of the country before we finally arrested him”.
