Heavyweight Boxer Joshua Suffers Shocking Knockout as #Dubois Retains IBF Belt
A record crowd of over 98,000 were stunned to see British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua suffer a devastating loss in his career at the hands of Daniel #Dubois, who defended his IBF heavyweight world title satisfactorily on Saturday.
Joshua, 34, was the favourite going into the game at Wembley in his attempt to become a three-time heavyweight boxing great.
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that he would have become the sixth champion with the record should he has won the match.
The winner fondly called DDD, 27, however defeated him and retained the IBF heavyweight title, knocking out the former two-time world champion in the fifth round in a dominant first defense of his belt.
Joshua had already been floored in the first and third rounds of a surprisingly one-sided fight at Wembley Stadium before falling face first after a straight right hand by DDD. The referee waved off the all-British fight just as Joshua‘s corner threw in the towel.
The young champ roared “Are you not entertained?” to a record post-war boxing crowd in Britain.
“This is my time, my redemption story,” said Dubois, who became IBF champion after the belt was vacated by Oleksandr Usyk in June. “I’m not going to stop until I reach my full potential.
A calm Joshua at the post Match conference praised Dubois for a great fight. The former champion said he “gave a shot at success but fell short. We rolled the dice but lost.”
Hinting at a possible rematch, Joshua expressed eagerness to fight again.
