Finally, Supreme Court Gives Verdict on President Bola Tinubu’s Electoral Victory, #Atiku And Peter Obi’s Appeal
THECONSCIENCEng reports that the supreme court of Nigeria has affirmed the victory of Bola Tinubu as the duly elected president of Nigeria.
The court dismissed the appeals of PDP’s Alhaji Abubakar Atiku and Labour Party’s Peter Gregory Obi few minutes ago.
The opposition parties had approached the court to challenge the election that produced Tinubu as president in February 2023.
The supreme court held that there is no merit in Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi’s appeal, and it is hereby dismissed.
In a unanimous judgment, a seven-member panel of the court affirmed the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) and upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu.
The lead judgment delivered by Justice John Okoro, while lasted less than five minutes, held that majority of the issues in Obi’s appeal were resolved in the earlier judgment in the appeal by Atiku of the PDP.
