Why Executive, Lawmakers Collaboration Is Vital – Sanwo-Olu
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, stressed that a good alignment between executive and legislative arms of government would foster continuous development in Lagos State.
The Governor added that such alignment ensures that the state remains a model for excellence governance.
Sanwo-Olu made the statement while hosting the new Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, and her entourage, at his office in Alausa, Ikeja.
He also pledged to work harmoniously with her to deliver policies that will benefit Lagosians.
“This alignment between the Executive and Legislative arms ensures that Lagos remains a model of excellence in governance. We will build on the successes of the past and work tirelessly to deliver transformational progress across all sectors. Together, we will continue to implement policies and projects that deliver on our Greater Lagos vision,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
During a courtesy visit Sanwo-Olu led the speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where the Speaker and executive members pledged to continue a good work relationship.
The Lawmakers were received by the governor and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, shortly before the commencement of the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
During the visit, the Speaker, her principal officers, and members of the Executive Council reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a harmonious working relationship.
Meranda became Speaker last Monday when her predecessor, Mudashiru Obasa, was removed by members of the Houuse over allegations of misconduct and financial misappropriations.
Meranda presided over her first sitting on Friday, setting up new leadership and a seven-man Selection Committee.
