Why ADC Can’t Defeat APC in 2027 – George
Chief Bode George, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed his scepticism regarding the newly formed political party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former military administrator of Lagos State dismissed the notion that the ADC will present a formidable opposition to the ruling party, asserting that the new party lacks the strategic framework necessary for effective opposition politics, unlike the PDP.
He shared these views during an interview on Friday.
George also lamented the departure of prominent figures from the PDP who have defected to the ADC.
Since its formation, discontented members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP have crossed over to the ADC, creating significant ripples in the political landscape ahead of the 2027 election.
Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Senate President David Mark have been associated with the ADC.
While Atiku has not formally declared his defection, he is believed to be a significant influence behind the new party. Mark, who has emerged as the ADC coalition’s interim national chairman, has officially resigned from the PDP.
Other notable members, including Liyel Imoke and Emeka Ihedioha, both former governors in Cross River and Imo States under the PDP, have also joined the ADC.
In response to the wave of defections, George questioned: “Is it because the PDP has collapsed, or is it driven by personal ambition or self-conceit? What motivates them to join this new party?”
“As a retired general, I have been contemplating the reasons behind this, and my conclusion is straightforward: it is nothing but existential imbecility.”
