Easter Blunder! Nigerians Blast Sterling Bank for Comparing Jesus Christ with 'Agege Bread'

Easter Blunder! Sterling Bank Comes Under Fire for Comparing Jesus Christ with ‘Agege Bread’

By THECONSCIENCEng

Popular Nigerian bank, Sterling Bank has come under intense criticism over messages posted on social media which compared Jesus Christ with ‘Agege bread’, a popular staple.

The bank had shared a Easter message on Twitter with the caption ‘like Agege bread, He rose’

Miffed by the insensitivity of the message, scores of users on the popular platform frowned at the error and called out the bank.

Many said it shouldn’t have come from them, as others said religious matters should have been handled with discretion.

The tweet was later deleted when the outcry became unbearable.

The bank later released another Easter tweet with a section stating: let the one who has never sinned, throw the first stone.

This seemed to have further fueled the public outcry as more users came hard on the bank calling for a sack of its entire creative department.

A user @dinahudoh said the bank’s Easter messages have been in ‘bad taste, insensitive and rather disturbing.’

‘For a bank that claims to care to be about each customer you shouldn’t disparate any religion or it’s symbols. DO BETTER!’

Another user with the name FADAYOMI OLADIRAN tweeted: “Honestly, you’ve just lost all Diocesan accounts with your bank.

Another user @Obasay remarked:
“Is this an apology or you are still trying to justify the errors?

‘Falling from one error to another, too bad. It shows no sound officer to review informations (sic) before been (sic) sent out.”
