Sowore Challenges Obi, Soludo, Others Over Nnamdi Kanu
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has challenged Labour Party leader Peter Obi, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, and other prominent Southeast figures to join a peaceful march to Aso Rock demanding the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu.
In a post on his official X account on Tuesday, Sowore announced that he is willing to set aside political differences to unite for Kanu’s release.
“I challenge every politician or person of good conscience from the Southeast who says they want Nnamdi Kanu released to stop the rhetoric. The time for action is now. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa,” he said.
Sowore urged governors, senators, traditional rulers, priests, and every Igbo person and Nigerian who supports Kanu’s freedom to go beyond words and join the march.
“I will lead this peaceful march to Aso Rock Villa. No more empty noise. Let Charles Soludo, Senator Abaribe, Governor Alex Otti, Peter Obi, and all others who claim to care step up and join us in person,” he added.
He emphasized that the march would be peaceful, legal, and highly visible as they demand justice and an end to the persecution of Kanu.
Meanwhile, late last month, a Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed Nnamdi Kanu’s no-case submission in his ongoing terrorism trial.
Justice James Omotosho ruled that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to require Kanu to enter his defense.
The judge found that the prosecution’s evidence and exhibits raised serious allegations of Kanu’s involvement in terrorist activities, justifying the continuation of the trial.
The court scheduled October 8 to receive a report from the Nigerian Military Authorities (NMA), which will inform the trial’s next phase.
Kanu had filed the no-case submission after the government presented its case, calling five witnesses and tendering exhibits.
