Residents Jubilate Over Oyekan’s Road Construction on Ologunro Street
Residents of Ologunro Street and the surrounding areas in the Lagos Island local government have expressed their enthusiasm for Hon. Taiwo Oyekan’s intervention in road construction, which has significantly improved the local environment.
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that many residents shared their frustrations about the previous state of the road, which contributed to poor sanitation and an uninviting atmosphere.
They, however, added that, with the recent renovations, the neighborhood has transformed into a cleaner and more hygienic space.
Iya Mufidat, a well-known resident and food vendor, shared her experiences before and after Hon. Taiwo Oyekan’s intervention. Speaking on behalf of the community, she highlighted the positive impact these improvements have had on public health and local businesses.
Hon. Taiwo Oyekan, Deputy Leader of the Lagos Island Local Government Legislative Arm, said he constructed the trunk C road network and drainage system on Ologunro Street, to enhance residents’ quality of life.
He emphasized that the community project aimed to address persistent flooding and environmental degradation in the area.
Oyekan noted that the project was designed to improve pedestrian mobility and stimulate the local economy, saying “It included the desilting and evacuation of existing drainage systems, construction of a new drainage system, and the establishment of a concrete road network.”
The local lawmaker reiterated that his commitment to community empowerment projects is driven by his deep love for the people, adding, “It’s about the people and communities.”
