Emirates, Marriott to Open World’s First Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Australia’s Wolgan Valley
Emirates and Marriott International have signed an agreement to develop the world’s first Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Australia’s Wolgan Valley, marking a major milestone for luxury tourism in New South Wales.
The 40-key all-inclusive property, to be known as Emirates Wolgan Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Lodge, will be set within a 7,000-acre conservation reserve in the UNESCO-listed Greater Blue Mountains region and is scheduled to open in mid-2026.
It will be the first lodge globally under The Ritz-Carlton brand, conceived as a purpose-built sanctuary in nature, combining refined luxury with low environmental impact.
Emirates has already invested AU$150 million in the property since 2006, with an additional AU$50 million now committed to renovations in partnership with Marriott International to transform the site into a world-class luxury lodge. Conservation efforts have included the restoration of historic structures, such as the 1832 homestead, and the planting of over one million native trees.
The project is expected to create up to 150 local jobs and boost the regional economy through increased engagement with local suppliers and producers. Guests will access the lodge via four-wheel-drive routes or helicopter.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said the partnership reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to Australia and regional development, describing the lodge as “a powerful engine for local economic growth” and a flagship conservation-based luxury destination.
Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding China), Marriott International, said the project would be a major draw for global luxury travellers and Marriott Bonvoy members, adding that it marks the brand’s first lodge debut worldwide.
The lodge will feature 40 private villas with pools, curated wilderness experiences, guided conservation activities, and signature offerings including a remote “sleep-out” adventure under the stars. Facilities will include a signature restaurant, spa, fitness centre, equestrian facilities and a naturalist hub led by resident experts.
Nestled within protected wilderness, the lodge will occupy less than two per cent of the conservancy, offering guests rare access to pristine landscapes, native wildlife and some of the clearest night skies in the world.
Emirates Wolgan Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Lodge will complement The Ritz-Carlton’s existing presence in Australia, including properties in Perth and Melbourne, further strengthening the country’s position as a premium luxury travel destination.
