Family Source Speaks on How Rachel Oniga Died
The family of late veteran actress, Rachel Oniga, has clarified that the veteran actress died from a heart related issue.
THECONSCIENCEng had earlier in a report quoted the actress’s official Wikipedia page which states that she died from COVID-19 related complications.
However, a statement signed by Deaconess Toyin Odusote (sister) on behalf of the family and received by the media on Saturday, said the actress died from a heart related issue; an ailment she battled with for a short period before her demise.
The family source also announced that the late actress died in a Lagos hospital at the age of 64 on Friday, 30th July, 2021 at about 10pm.
Originally from Eku, Delta State in Southern Nigeria, Rachel Oniga was born on 23 May 1957 in Ebute Metta, Lagos State. She began her acting career in 1993.
She worked briefly at Ascoline Nigeria Limited, a Dutch Consultant Company before her first movie titled Onome and her debut Yoruba movie was Owo Blow.
Over the years, Oniga has featured in notable Nigerian films such as Sango, a movie scripted by Wale Ogunyemi, produced and directed by Obafemi Lasode and Wale Adenuga’s television series, Super story. Rachael Oniga became a grandmother when her daughter Georgia delivered a baby in 2014.
