President Trump Threatens to Destroy Gaza, Hamas over Hostages
President Donald Trump on Wednesday issued a strong warning to Hamas, threatening further destruction in Gaza if all remaining hostages are not released.
The ultimatum, which he shared via his Truth Social platform, follows a tough period of conflict and negotiations regarding hostages taken during Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023.
Trump’s brash comments come as the United States confirmed unprecedented indirect talks with Hamas, a group it officially designates as a terrorist organization.
These discussions are primarily focused on securing the release of American hostages still held in Gaza.
The President expressed unwavering support for Israel, stating that his administration is expediting billions of dollars in military aid to ensure that Israel has everything it needs to “finish the job.”
“Release all of the Hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you,” Trump declared, emphasizing that this was the “last warning” for Hamas leaders, urging them to flee Gaza while they still have the chance.
His statements also included a stark message to the people of Gaza, warning that those who hold hostages face dire consequences.
Trump’s threats comes on a backdrop of a tenuous ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which has seen exchanges of hostages and prisoners.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed Trump’s sentiments, asserting that there would be “consequences that you cannot imagine” if Hamas does not comply with demands to release the remaining hostages.
While the ceasefire has led to moments of relative calm, the humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated significantly.
France, Britain, and Germany have expressed grave concerns, labeling the conditions as “catastrophic” and urging Israel to allow unhindered delivery of aid.
Reports from residents in Gaza reveal dire shortages of essential resources, including drinking water, as Israel continues to restrict the flow of goods into the region.
