Police Arrests Lagos Couple for Allegedly Be@ting their Maid to De@th
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a housewife, Nene Fortune, and her husband, Stephens, in connection with the de@th of their housemaid.
THECONSCIENCENG gathered that the deceased, Joy Akom Adole, was living with the couple at their residence in Bariga area of the state before her sudden de@th.
It was gathered that Joy started working with the couple in January, 2022 and was being paid N15k per month. On April 20, 2022, the couple was said to have called the police to report that she had ended it all.
They alleged that she ended it all following a misunderstanding with her madam, Fortune. However, when the police visited the scene, they found out that the deceased was to#tured and might have d#ed in the process.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, Bala Elkana, said, “Our operatives at Bariga received a complain from a couple that their househelp committed su##ide. That is the initial report that they got.
The DPO led a team of Homicide detectives to the house and they saw the housegirl h@nging on a rope but the way she stood on the rope raised an eyebrow because it actually looked like it was a stage managed event.
The detectives went further to check for marks of vi#lence and they saw a lot, fresh wound. She was actually to#tured so there is a likelihood that she d#ed and they tried to cover up by putting her on a rope to show she committed su##ide.”
