TikTok Night Ban Hits Nigeria As Peller Drops Bombshell on His ₦40m Deals

Nigerian TikTok sensation Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has fired back at rumours that the platform’s sudden night livestream ban would leave him broke, insisting he remains “very comfortable” despite the restrictions.

TikTok rolled out the temporary ban at midnight on Sunday through a system alert titled “LIVE Notices – TikTok LIVE Update in Nigeria.” The company said the measure is part of a wider safety investigation. Nigerian users were also blocked from accessing LIVE broadcasts from other countries during the restricted hours.

The move has rattled thousands of local creators who depend on night engagement for visibility and income.

In a video posted on Instagram on Monday, Peller mocked critics who predicted he would suffer financially.
He said:
“People are expecting me to be crying after TikTok banned live in Nigeria, thinking I’ll go hungry. I’m an ambassador to numerous brands, and none of my endorsements is less than ₦40 million.”

Peller noted that while TikTok has helped amplify his popularity, his financial strength comes from major brand endorsements and other long-term deals, not just livestream gifts. He added that he frequently gives back by distributing gifts he receives during LIVE sessions through fan giveaways.

The creator also highlighted TikTok’s importance in helping young Nigerians build followership faster than on Instagram.
“Many people will grow on TikTok. You can’t grow on Instagram the same way… TikTok is easier to grow on,” he said.

However, he warned that night-time restrictions could significantly affect content creators’ earnings and urged stakeholders to consider the economic impact on young Nigerians.

In his early 20s, Peller is currently known to be dating fellow Tiktoker and content creator, Jarvis (Real Name: Amadou Elizabeth Aminata) known For her unique AI persona on TikTok, through which she gained massive popularity and brand deals.
