Peller Defends ₦500,000 Job Interview, Says 2 Candidates Selected

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that TikTok personality and content creator, Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, has said that two candidates have been selected from his recent cameraman job screening and would be paid a monthly salary of ₦500,000.

The interview, which held earlier in the week, gained massive attention on social media after a female applicant, Nkese Eyo, said she felt used for content rather than given a real shot at employment.

Peller had initially announced the job opening via social media, promising ₦500,000 monthly pay to the successful applicant. The offer attracted a large number of hopefuls, including Master’s degree holders, who physically attended the screening session.

However, after Nkese shared her experience online, calling the interview a content shoot and alleging disrespect, criticism trailed the process, with many accusing Peller of exploiting the joblessness of young Nigerians for views.

In response, Peller posted a video on Instagram Saturday evening defending his actions and explaining what actually happened.

“Among the 20 people that came yesterday, we picked two persons. One will stand in for the other if one is not available. I’m going to pay them ₦500,000 before they start work for this month,” he said.

He also addressed Nkese’s viral post, saying the entire session was streamed live for transparency.

“We did a live stream. Everybody saw what we were doing. I was literally joking with you, and you picked only that part. I said I don’t know the tribe,” he said.

Nkese, who is also a content creator and singer, had taken to her X handle @nkeseitam to call out the process.

“I went for Peller’s job opening with the intention to work, pitch myself, and grow. But instead, I was used for content. No actual job. No follow-up. Just part of another episode,” she wrote.

She also claimed Peller made unnecessary remarks about her tribe and physical appearance during the interview.

But Peller insisted he never forced anyone to show up and that the format of the interview was made clear from the onset.

“Why is everybody angry like I’m the one that made the economy hard? When I said I needed a Master’s degree holder, did I tie anybody from their house?” he said.

As of press time, Peller had not released the names of the selected candidates, but the debate continues to trend online with mixed reactions from Nigerians.
