
Ondo Tailor Stabs ‘Brother’ To Death Over Stabiliser
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that a 23-year-old tailor, Faith Adeola, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his close friend, Gbenga Olotu, to death during a dispute over the theft of a stabiliser.
The tragic incident occurred in the Ikese community of Oka-Akoko, in the Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to eyewitnesses, Adeola and Olotu were close companions who referred to each other as “street brothers.” An argument reportedly broke out between them over the alleged theft of a stabiliser.
Witnesses stated that Olotu attempted to stab Adeola and his wife during the altercation. In a bid to defend himself, Adeola was said to have overpowered Olotu, seized the knife, and stabbed him in the chest.
Olotu was rushed to the General Hospital but was confirmed dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, Adeola was arrested and charged with one count of murder.
The charge read: “That you, Faith Adeola ‘m’, on May 10, 2025, at about 2:30 p.m., at Ikese community, Oka-Akoko, in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did unlawfully stab one Olotu Gbenga ‘m’ a.k.a. ‘Zagazar’ in the chest with a knife and also hit him with a piece of wood on his body, leading to his death.”
The defendant’s plea was not taken.
Prosecuting counsel, Folasade Adeyemi, requested that the court remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. R.I. Adelakin, ordered that Adeola be remanded at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure and adjourned the case until May 29, 2025, for further hearing.
