Shocking! How Three Siblings Die in One Day in Ondo, Mother Dies

The Dangote truck accident which led to deaths and injuries for many residents and students in Ondo during the weekend was very saddening.

But more shocking and troubling was how the ill fated truck amongst others, killed three siblings on the spot, leading to the death of their mother as well.

It was indeed a black Saturday in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, as no fewer than nine persons, including some students of the university, were killed.

The cement-laden truck belonging to Dangote Group was said to have lost control before ramming into some open shops opposite Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA.

The truck was said to have suffered brake failure while descending from the Ikare-Akoko end of the road.

The students who were preparing for their first-semester examination had just resumed after months of break occasioned by the ASUU strike and COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a student of the institution, Miss Bolatito Arogundo, when the truck lost control, it crushed those by the roadside before ramming into the shops.

A source which confirmed the incident wrote, “An accident occurred yesterday (Saturday) in Akungba, Ondo State….these three guys were from same parents, a trailer crushed the three of them together in their shop and they all died instantly. Their mum died on the spot on hearing the news.

Two of them are final year students of Ondo State University and were seated in their mom’s shop with another sibling before tragedy struck.

Similarly, a former Student Union President of the university, Samuel Adesomoju, popularly known as Sampraise, was also confirmed to be one of the victims of the crash.

The body of Adesomoju, a 500-level law student, was discovered in the mortuary after the crash. One of his friends, Iyantan John, also confirmed this on his Facebook page.

He wrote, “The ugly event that happened yesterday in Akungba community will not concern the ‘Authorities’ that is why these incidents continue to happen often and often.
