Blasphemy: UN Secretary, Amina Condemns Deborah Samuel’s Killing, Demands Justice
The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, has criticized the unlawful killing of Deborah Samuel and demanded that justice must be ensured to prosecute all the culprits involved in the gruesome act.
Mohammmed, who said this on Tuesday via her Twitter page, stated, “Justice must be done for the senseless, brutal killing of the young, Deborah Samuel in Nigeria.
“Religions should not be misinterpreted to preach violence when they promote peace. My prayers are with the family and for the repose of her soul,” she added.
Recall that the remains of Deborah were laid to rest in her hometown, Tungan Magajiya in the Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State on Saturday evening.
She was stoned to death and set ablaze on Thursday by her fellow students for allegedly making a blasphemous statement against Prophet Mohammed.
Reacting to the death of their daughter, the bereaved parents had said they had nothing to say or do regarding the loss of their child, but had decided to leave everything in the hands of God.
