The Voice Nigeria 4: Impressive Rolland leads Niyola's Team to Battles, as Knockout Ends

The Voice Nigeria 4: Impressive Rolland leads Niyola’s Team to Battles, as Knockout Ends

By our Editor

It was a phenomenal weekend of breathtaking musical performances and high octane emotions on the voice Nigeria 4 episode ten.

Outstanding performances back to back from coach Niyola’s talents especially Rolland, Esther, Pere and Gideon made the episode such a delight to see. Love, Michael and Yunus also made the list of talents heading to the Battles for team Niyola as the Knockout stage ended with the episode.

From the performances, the coach appeared to have done an impressive job tutoring the talents as their tone, breath control, range, vocals, stage discipline and showmanship were generally exemplary.

The show’s unique format features four stages of competition, including the Blind Auditions, Knockouts, Battles and Live Shows, for an opportunity to grab the grand prizes.

The global music talents reality TV show, in its fourth season in Nigeria, is sponsored by First Bank, the nation’s 129-year old premier financial powerhouse.

The Financial giant is sponsoring the show as part of its support for arts, entertainment and youth development.

Superstar musicians – Niyola, Naeto C, Waje and Praiz, feature both as coaches and judges for the talents while movie star, Kate Henshaw anchors the show.

Rolland opened the episode with a superb performance that brought the mercurial super star singer Michael Jackson back to life.

With a soothing delivery of Earth Song, the talent serenaded and tingled the audience. It was sweet to the ears and spectacular to behold.

An excited coach Praiz said he thought Michael Jackson was resurrected while Waje confessed she was blown away with the ‘absolutely amazing’ show. Rolland was cleared by Niyola to proceed directly to the Battles stage.

Sadly, both Stella who sang Beyonce’s Smash into You and Somachi with Ella Mai’s Trip were unimpressive and sent to the danger zone.

Then Michael brought back the groove with his cool and sensual performance of Michael Buble’s The Way You Look Tonight forcing Niyola to move him to the Battles.

Melody performed David Guetta’s fast paced Without You. Chiemere sang Bruno Mars’ Versace on the floor while Joy did Beyonce’s Drunk in Love. But all couldn’t move the coach.

Love also got all the Coaches emotional and vibing to her rendition of Alicia Keys’ If I Ain’t got you with a wide range and beautiful melody.

Esther brought down the roof with Tina Turner’s Proud Mary. Her dramatic and skillful handling of the classic got all the coaches dancing with Waje throwing off her shoes to dance. She made a great impression with the song and electrifying dance steps.

Pere is a singer with a slim physical frame but was too hot to handle. Coach Naeto C confessed he did so well he could double as a great singer and cartoonist.

Following his performance, Niyola offered him an express opportunity to work with her to make music for films. His stunning voice brought home Wizard of Oz’s Somewhere Over The Moon.

His big range, sweet tone and soothing voice also gave the audience and coaches goose bumps. Coach Waje said his essence, laughter and total package was sweet and delightful, and he remains an act for the big stage.

Gideon was the last act of the day but was never the least. His delivery of Seal’s Stand By Me was full of aesthetics and mastery. The judges testified of his great tone, control and discipline.

Stella, Somachi, Melody, Chiemere and Joy dropped out of the show at the end of episode ten.
