NDLEA Exposes New Drugs Peddlers Tactics
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has warned parents to be vigilant after discovering synthetic cannabis being sold and packaged in Moimoi sachets.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, in a short post on X on Sunday, said the substance, known on the street as “Colos” (short for Colorado), was found during a seizure in the Lekki area of Lagos.
Babafemi then advised parents to be cautious if they notice their children receiving Moimoi sachets with unusual packaging.
“Red alert, parents,” Babafemi wrote. “In case you see your young ones taking delivery of Moimoi that comes in these beautiful sachets, please insist on taking a closer look.”
He added that “The merchants of death are now packaging that dangerous synthetic cannabis known on the street as Colos (Colorado in full) in these Moimoi cooking sachets as discovered by ndlea officers in Lekki area of Lagos in one of our latest seizures. Leaving no stone unturned.”
The warning comes amid growing concern over drug abuse in Nigeria. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently reported that 14.3 million Nigerians are victims of drug abuse or drug dependence.Nigeria travel packages
According to NAFDAC, many of those affected report serious consequences, including absenteeism from school or work, poor performance, and neglect of family responsibilities.
