
NDLEA Arrests Notorious Drug Dealer In Kano
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Command, has arrested a notorious drug dealer, Faisal Yusuf Umar, aged 23, following a meticulous surveillance operation that was initiated based on community complaints regarding his illicit activities.
On July 18, 2025, officers from the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command attached to Fagge Area Command executed a strategic operation at the residence of Faisal Yusuf Umar located in Dandali, Fagge Local Government Area.
During the operation, a significant quantity of controlled substances was recovered, including 40 bottles (4KG) of Benylin with Codeine, alongside a substantial amount of cash totaling N204,000.

Public Relations Officer, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kano Strategic Command, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, and made available to the press in Kano.
The statement read: “The arrest of Faisal underscores the NDLEA’s unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse in the state. This operation is part of a broader strategy to dismantle the networks of drug dealers operating in Kano State.
“The NDLEA is focused on identifying and apprehending the main dealers who pose a serious threat to the health and safety of our communities.
“The Kano Command remains vigilant and dedicated to ensuring that drug-related crimes are met with swift and decisive action.
“We urge the community to continue reporting suspicious activities, as their cooperation is vital in our ongoing efforts to eradicate drug abuse and trafficking”.

The Commander emphasises that the fight against drug-related crimes is a collective responsibility, and the command will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Kano remains a safe and drug-free environment.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, Abubakar Idris Ahmad, has been officially promoted to the rank of Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN).
This promotion follows a thorough evaluation process, including an interview and consideration of various factors that affirmed his qualifications for this esteemed position.
In expressing his gratitude, ACGN Abubakar Idris Ahmad extends his heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman of NDLEA, Brig Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd), CON, OFR, for recognizing his dedication and commitment to the agency’s mission.
“I am truly honored to receive this promotion and grateful for the trust placed in me. I look forward to continuing to serve the Kano Strategic Command and contributing to our collective fight against drug-related crimes.
“With the recent elevation of the Kano State Command to Kano Strategic Command, ACGN Ahmad will continue to lead this critical command, which is now required to be headed by an ACGN.
“Under his leadership, the Kano Strategic Command is poised to enhance its efforts in combating drug trafficking and promoting public safety within the region.
“The NDLEA remains committed to its mission of ensuring a drug-free society and will continue to support the professional development of its personnel to achieve this goal,” he stated.
