NASS Approves Tinubu’s 4 Tax Reform Bills
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the National Assembly has passed all four key tax reform bills presented by President Bola Tinubu, according to Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee.
The Senate passed the final two bills—the Nigeria Tax Bill and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill—on Thursday, May 8, completing the legislative approval process. The first two bills—the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill and the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill—were approved during a plenary session on Wednesday, May 7.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the passage of the first two bills, which had undergone review by a Senate committee.
Providing an update via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Oyedele confirmed that all four bills have now been passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
He stated that a conference committee has been established by the National Assembly to reconcile any discrepancies between the versions passed by both chambers before the bills are transmitted to President Tinubu for assent.
“On 8 May 2025, the Senate passed the remaining two tax bills—the Nigeria Tax Bill and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill—completing the set of four. The other two were passed on 7 May. All four bills have now gone through third reading and passed in both chambers.”
“The next step is for the conference committee to harmonise differences between the Senate and House versions before they are sent to Mr. President for assent.”
