
Lagos CP Visits Military Formations, Reaffirms Security Cooperation
To strengthen existing working relationships and enhance collaborative security operations across the State, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, on Wednesday, paid courtesy visits to military formations including 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army; 651 Base Service Group Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force; and the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Apapa.
At the 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, where CP Tijani Fatai was received by the Commander, Brigadier General Ayokunle Owolabi, discussions centered on strengthening the longstanding partnership in internal security operations and reinforcing sustained joint efforts to ensure the safety and security of all residents of Lagos State.

At the 651 Base Service Group Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, where the Commanding Officer, Air Commodore M. A. Imam, received the Commissioner of Police and his delegation, discussions centered on solidifying the existing cordial working relationship between both agencies.
Key issues of mutual interest, including internal security, professionalism, intelligence sharing, and operational cooperation, were also deliberated upon.
At the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Apapa, where the Commander, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, received the Commissioner of Police and his team, discussions centered on strengthening collaboration in the protection of the State’s waterways. Both agencies reaffirmed the need for structured operational alignment, particularly in situations requiring multi-agency coordination.

During the visits, the Commissioner of Police stressed that effective security management in a complex and strategic State like Lagos depends on seamless collaboration among all security and law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces must continue to operate in unity, guided by mutual respect and a shared commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets.
CP Tijani Fatai commended the consistent support and cooperation the Lagos State Police Command receives from Armed Forces formations across the State, noting that such synergy is crucial to effectively combating crime, maintaining law and order, and proactively addressing emerging security threats.
He further reaffirmed the Command’s steadfast commitment, in collaboration with other security agencies, to sustaining peace, enhancing public safety, and ensuring a secure environment conducive to socio-economic growth.
The Lagos State Police Command remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property and will continue to strengthen partnerships with all relevant stakeholders in the interest of public safety.
