New Lagos Mainland Chairman Outlines Grassroots Development Plans
The newly elected chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Hon. Jubril Emilagba, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has pledged to swiftly implement his numerous plans for his constituents.
He reiterated his commitment made during the campaign that he, along with the vice chairman and councillors, will not celebrate until they have completed 100 days in office, emphasising their determination to work tirelessly to improve the lives of their constituents.
Among his plans, Emilagba announced the construction of a road at Oto, which links to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the area. He also noted that they have secured approval from the state to construct Jeba Street, extending from Osholake down to the shore.
Additionally, Emilagba outlined his vision for the local government, which includes a monthly food programme for residents. He acknowledged the community’s ongoing water challenges and mentioned that preparations are underway to install a motorised borehole to serve approximately 34th Street in each area.

Furthermore, he plans to introduce monthly stipends for residents to help alleviate the rising cost of food, and he aims to invest in agriculture, drawing on his own background in the field to support the community.
He stated that his agenda will focus on continuity, building on the work of the incumbent Chairman, Hon. Omolola Essien.
Emilagba made these remarks while speaking with journalists at Desalu Estate within the local government area.
In his address to the media, Emilagba expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for the smooth conduct of the elections and thanked the people for their support in voting for his party.
He emphasised that the electorate’s decision was influenced by the positive changes they have witnessed at the national, state, and grassroots levels.
As a serving Vice Chairman, he noted that the community desires a seamless transition and continuity of good governance from the outgoing chairman.
