Rededicate Yourself to Service, LAWMA Boss Tells Staff at Christmas Carol
Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has called on employees to rededicate themselves to the mission of a cleaner Lagos in the upcoming year 2025.
During the agency’s annual Christmas Carol and Year-End Thanksgiving Service, Dr. Gbadegesin expressed his gratitude to the staff for their contributions in 2024 and encouraged them to maintain their dedication to the cause.
The event, held at LAWMA’s headquarters in Ijora-Olopa, was attended by management, staff, neighbours, friends, and well-wishers, all gathering to appreciate God for His blessings throughout the past year.
In his welcome address, Dr. Gbadegesin thanked God for the mercies shown to LAWMA staff amid challenges, stating, “Today is a day for praises and thanksgiving. I appreciate God for His blessings upon LAWMA’s staff and pray for our continued preservation as we commit ourselves to service.”
He also encouraged staff to persist in their good work while wishing Lagos residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. He urged them to fulfill their responsibilities toward the environment and support the authority’s efforts in maintaining a clean and livable city.
Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, Executive Director of Finance, expressed gratitude for the lives of LAWMA staff, emphasizing the importance of continual praise to God. He acknowledged Dr. Gbadegesin’s efforts to enhance waste management operations in the state to foster a more people-friendly environment.
Delivering a sermon themed “With a Grateful Heart,” chapel president Mr. Olawumi Oluwaseyi encouraged attendees to consistently express gratitude to God for His protection and committed every member of the authority into God’s hands, seeking grace and mercy.
The first Bible reading, from Genesis 3:8-15, was delivered by Dr. Gbadegesin, while the second reading from Genesis 22:15-18 was read by Mr. Adebiyi. Other management staff who participated in the readings included Mrs. Folashade Kadiri, Mr. Adewumi Adetona, Dr. Essien Nsuabia, Mrs. Opayemi Abimbola, Mrs. Bola Adewumi, and Dr. Modupe Okoh.
The event’s highlight included a special song by guest minister Sarah Apekeola, hymns and songs performed by the Emmanuel Chapel choir, and a choreographic presentation by the chapel’s children.
