According to Tope Ojo, Head of LASIEC Public Affairs, the commission will open the stage for political campaigns and rallies on Friday, April 18, which will conclude on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

With all his machinery operating at full capacity, he leaves no room for lags or slips, implementing empowerment programmes, engaging in stakeholder consultations, and raising civic awareness among his constituents—all running smoothly.

Known for his keen interest in orchestrating initiatives that significantly impact various key areas of life for the people of Lagos Island—including education, health, infrastructure, skills acquisition, and welfare—Oyekan shows no signs of slowing down as the elections approach.

He has recently received several awards from civic organisations that have recognised his life-changing initiatives.
Residents of Lagos Island, in their hundreds, have continued to pour commendations and accolades on him due to his pedigree and ongoing engagement with them long before he began nurturing an ambition to serve as council chairman.
Meanwhile, other highlights of the Notice of Election include a meeting of the Commission with all registered political parties on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, while the publication of election guidelines will take place on April 17, 2025.
“Campaigns and rallies by political parties will commence on Friday, April 18, and end on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The closing date for submission of nomination forms for ‘substituted’ and ‘only candidate’ by the political parties is between Wednesday, June 18, and Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
“The Chairman of the Commission, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (rtd), has assured all of a level playing field for all political parties and promises the electorate that the Commission is determined to conduct a free, fair, inclusive, and credible election in line with the best international standards.”
