June 12: We’ll Defend Lagos Against ‘Commercial Protesters’- Lagos Group
…As Lagos indigenous groups kick.
The Eko Akete Progressive Movement has cautioned the publisher of Saharareporters, Omoyele Sowore and other groups planning to organize protest for June 12 in Lagos to shift the idea for public safety amidst ravaging insecurity in the country.
Eko Akete Progressive Movement, a group of Lagos indigenes worldwide in a statement issued on Monday by its chairman, Abass Dosumu said the centre of excellence cannot afford another protest after hoodlums hijacked #EndSARS protest and destroyed properties worth billion of naira in 2020.
Dosumu noted that the indigenes of the state will not allow any group or individual to destabilize the state and disturb public peace in the name of protest.
The Statement reads:
”We the indigenes of Lagos state will not allow the people planning protest on June 12 to bury the thought in the interest of public safety and peace amidst the insecurity in Nigeria.
Organizing protest will be counter productive, especially after Lagos witnessed destruction of government and private properties during Endsars protest.

We understand the protest is constitutional guaranteed right of the citizens but must be used responsibly and reasonable due to tension in the country.
As a group of patriotic citizens and indigenes of the state, we advise Sowore and others to use alternative means to ventilate their concerns about the situation in the country.
We call on the security agencies to prevent aggressors and commercial agitators from causing unimaginable damages in the state less than a year after the disheartening aftermath of Endsars protest.
