FirstBank of Nigeria Limited has partnered the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), kitting and branding the agency’s highway sweepers in a move to enhance cleaner and healthier environment.

Group Executive Commercial Banking, FirstBank, Seyi Oyefeso, said the collaboration between the bank and LAWMA had come to stay.

“It’s a collaboration that has come to stay, as we are committed to it. We will continue to support the environment, as it goes beyond benefit for the bank. It is about supporting to achieve a clean a environment,” he said.

Oyefeso, who represented FirstBank Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, added that a dirty environment brings a lot of health issues, but a clean environment promotes good health.

He said the bank will be coming up with products and services that will promote financial inclusion among the LAWMA sweepers and ensure they are included in the financial services net.

“I know the bank will be coming up with packages that the sweepers will benefit from, especially on financial inclusion. FirstBank is carrying its people and environment along, and contributing to the growth and development of Lagos State,” Odumboni said.

Odumboni commended FirstBank for the corporate social responsibility initiative, adding that the gesture would open a new chapter of deals between the two organisations.

“We are doing this to ensure that the sweepers remain very visible to motorists when they are working on the roads and highways. We appreciate the private sector, especially FirstBank, for its support to enable us brand this uniform. We are putting smiles on the faces of our sweepers,’’ he said.

He said the sweepers were fully kitted, having their caps, shoes, and lemon green uniforms so that people could see them from a very long distance. I want to appreciate the FirstBank’s support, and also Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the uniforms,” he said.
