THECONSCIENCE NG reports that goods and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in a fire that broke out at Ogundipe Market, Agodi Gate, in Ibadan North Local Government Area, in the early hours of Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
The fire razed 14 out of 42 shops in the market complex, leading to significant losses for affected traders.
Confirming the incident, the Special Adviser on Fire Reform and Chairman of the Fire Services Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, said that no lives were lost in the incident.

According to him, the fire was reported at exactly 3:50 a.m. by a resident identified as Mr. Sulaiman. Firefighters, led by Chief Fire Superintendent Olayiwola T.K., were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Akinwande praised the quick response of the fire personnel, noting that properties worth billions of naira were saved due to their prompt action.
He also used the opportunity to urge traders and shop owners across the state to prioritise fire safety by installing fire extinguishers and adhering to precautionary measures to prevent such incidents.
