Fake Monarch Remanded In Lagos

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that  Chief Magistrate Court sitting at the Lagos State Task Force Office in Oshodi has ordered the remand of Musiliu Musa Awoga, also known as Ajingolo, and three others for alleged impersonation, forgery, and assault of law enforcement officers.

Awoga was arraigned alongside Olamilekan Awoga, Hassan Adefala, and Moses Awoga on a 13-count charge brought by the Lagos State Government (LASG).

The charges include forgery, impersonation of a traditional ruler, Oba AbdulRasak Musa, breach of peace, and assaulting police officers.

The Court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Jimoh Adefioye, ordered their remand in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) following their not-guilty plea.

According to the prosecution led by Mr O.A. Adekunle, the offences were committed on June 14, 2025, at Eredo, Epe.

The prosecution alleged that Awoga falsely paraded himself as the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom and Awujale of Ijebu-Eko, titles that are not recognised under Lagos State law.

He allegedly forged a Supreme Court ruling in Suit No: SC/CV/969/2020, the letterhead of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and the signature of the council’s chairman, Ismail Akinloye.

He was also accused of printing banners and invitation cards for a fictitious coronation, in which he adorned a beaded crown and staff of office, presenting himself as Oba-elect of Igboye.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. While Musiliu Awoga faced 11 counts, the others were charged with seven offences each.

In addressing the court, the prosecution stated that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had requested the case file for legal advice, as investigations remain ongoing.

The LASG prayed to the court to remand the defendants pending the DPP’s legal opinion.

Granting the request, Magistrate Adefioye ordered the remand of all four defendants at the NCoS facility.

The matter was adjourned until September 8, 2025, for further mention and DPP advice.
