EFCC Investigates Ex- Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye For Alleged Fraud
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday interrogated Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the immediate-past Minister for Women Affairs, over her alleged involvement in the misappropriation, violation of procurement processes, and diversion of ₦138.4 million in public funds during the disbursement of the 2023 budgeted funds for the Ministry.
Authoritative sources revealed that Ohanenye arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 11 a.m. on Thursday, where she was questioned regarding her role in the alleged fraud.
According to the sources, EFCC investigations indicated that funds allocated for the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative were misappropriated for her personal enrichment.
As of Thursday, the former minister had not been granted administrative bail, with sources confirming that investigations are still ongoing.
Uju Kennedy Ohanenye was among the ministers relieved of their duties by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024. She was appointed Minister of Women Affairs on August 21, 2023.
